- default settings for all tools
- document layout master sheets with company details
- default viewsets structure for ease of use
- standard dimension preferences
- element attribute customization (layers, lines, fills, zones, pen sets etc)
- model view options for ease of document display settings
- Company preferences for workstations:
- standard ArchiCAD Work Environment (including interface, data safety and shortcut options)
- company standard 'favourites' (defaults for dimension settings and text display etc)
- company Window / Door Schedule schemes
- library management

The course will examine the best methods for using a model and optimising the 2d documentation based on the 3d content. This will help ensure the 2d document content based on a 3d Virtual Model is produced quickly and efficiently.

- creating sections and elevations
- using the worksheet tool
- using the detail tool
- using the 3d document tool
- 2d detailing exercises
- importing 2d details from external sources
- overlaying 2d detail on the 3d virtual building model

Course Description:
This course is designed to take the ArchiCAD 12 / ArchiCAD Start Edition 2008 user and develop their 3d modelling skills. The course concentrates on 3d modelling techniques to be beneficial for both visual appearance and presentation of documentation. Basic object creation without the need for GDL programming will also be covered.
Course Content:
- building modelling exercise
- placing doors and windows
- creating custom panels for doors, windows and objects
- creating simple 3d objects
- solid element operations
- add-on: mesh-to-roof
- using complex profiles
- add-on: create stair from selection
- add-on: roof accessories
- add-on: roofmaker / trussmaker
- importing 3ds objects
- placing 2d data in 3d
The following items will also be discussed, although it is not possible to create a fully customised template as this would require additional time.
- creating ArchiCAD templates including document layout masters
- making use of xref (external reference to dwg / dxf) and modules

The course investigates some of the multiple possibilities of creating scheduled data directly from the model - and linking this to the 2d documentation. Typical examples include window / door scheduling and zone list information.

- displaying listing parameters on plan
- displaying listing parameters on elevations
- using the ID manager
- controlling the view options
- interactive schedule schemes
