'Navigator Preview settings' (reducing the size of the project files)

This document will explain how to keep the size of the ArchiCAD project file minimised. In a default installation of ArchiCAD (and after a ‘New and Reset’ has been preformed) the Navigator Preview is saved with the project file. This can lead to a large increase in the size of the project file depending on the number of views saved within Viewsets. Disabling this option will only have a minor impact on the performance of ArchiCAD – but a major saving in the file size.

To disable the saving of the Navigator Preview – select Options> Preferences> 2D Redraw Options…

Click and uncheck the box next to ‘Save Navigator Preview Data with Project files’ and then press OK. This will reduce the size of files being created or modified.

As this is a setting that needs modified after a new installation or ‘New and Reset’ – you should set the Preview as off within any ArchiCAD templates you use.
